  • Spreadsheet 001: Essentially a way to program by linking cells through codes
  • A cell has several characteristics
    • Value
    • Properties:
      • Type - currency, text, numeric
      • Format

Lecture Glossary

  • Spreadsheet - an electronic grid sheet with cells built into rows and columns, which can be manipulated to diplay data in a range of models
  • Model - a forecasting behaviour for business or commerce. A 'Basic Model' involves inputs, decision variables and outputs
  • Cell - small boxes on a spreadsheet where data is stored and can be referenced by a letter and number combination
  • Operator - symbols such as +, -, *, and / that are used to perform mathematical functions in a formula
  • Function - pre-built formulas in an excel spreadsheet
  • Domain - the cell that refers to the group of selected cells (range)
  • Range - a group of selected cells
  • Case - a row in a spreadsheet
  • Variable - a column or field in a spreadsheet
  • Wiki - a collaborative website which can be directly edited by anyone with access to it
