Marking Notes for Assignment 1

  • Introduction: Use the Student Examples (from previous semesters) as a guide.
  • Model: Ditto:
  • Data Dictionary: Base mark on the proportion of data included from data tab, in correct format.
  • Data Tab. 5 of 15 marks are reserved for above average design.
  • Dashboard. 5 of 15 marks are reserved for above average design. If they have > 3 charts, look at first 3. Deduct 5 marks if no chart has a comparison across classes (only 1 of 3 are required to have such a comparison). Some students might use All the data for charts not involving comparisons. Others might use a subset, such as their own class. Both are fine.
  • Accuracy of Calculations. Deduct 2 marks for any calculation error. Deduct 5 marks if there was no use of a "complex" calculation: If, Lookup, Pivot. some students might use CountIf, or other calculations, not covered in tutorial, which can count as "complex" for these purposes.
  • Originality of Idea: As a guideline: 0 if simply used the TA Example for starting points. 5 if some originality. Full 10 if very original. Use your judgement.
  • Comprehensiveness: As proportion of original data fields (columns) incorporated into final charts via students creating calculated and summary variables for charting.
