Authoring Platform:

The various bits of software which the Authoring Tool runs on top of.

Authoring Tool:

The Pachyderm software used to author presentations from various assets.

Flash Components:

little bits of reusable widgets used within the Flash Templates.

Item:

The David, a Michelangelo sculpture on view in the gallery.

Resource:

A photo of the David, or a movie of the David, described by metadata.

Asset:

An instance of the resource. An 80px x 60px jpg of the photo resource. Another instance would be an 800px x 600px of the photo resource.
